Dr. Nguyen Lien Huong 

Dean of Faculty of Construction Economics and Management

       Dr. Nguyen Lien Huong was elected as Dean of Construction Economics and Management  Faculty at HUCE in 2015. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Construction Economics and her Ph.D. in Construction Management from HUCE.

Her area of expertise comprises construction economics, pricing, risk management, cost management, and education. Dr. Huong devoted decades to developing and delivering construction economics and construction management courses and programs at HUCE. She works with government agencies and industry bodies to advocate for supportive policy and transform the construction industry in Vietnam. She has led several research projects funded by the Ministry of Construction, Vietnam.

 

Eric joined Manchester Metropolitan University in March 2018 as a Reader in Project Management and currently serves as the Head of International for the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

He is a passionate academic and researcher with enthusiasm toward internationalization of his work and service. Dr. Lou’s research is internationally recognized through his success in the Newton Fund, British Council, and Royal Academy of Engineering grants and journal publications with partners globally. He also served his community as a Primary School Governor.

Professor Shang-Hsien (Patrick) Hsieh

Dr. Hsieh is a Professor in the Computer-Aided Engineering Division of the Department of Civil Engineering at National Taiwan University (NTU), Taipei, Taiwan. He is currently the Director of the Research Center for Building & Infrastructure Information Modeling and Management in the Department. Due to his contributions to academic research, international cooperation, and the construction industry’s digital transformation practice, Dr. Hsieh was elected as an Associate Member of the International Academy of Engineering in 2021. He has a wide range of research interests, including intelligent engineering & construction modeling and simulation, engineering information & knowledge management systems, and innovative engineering education. His recent research focuses on digital transformation for the sustainability development of the built environment.

Dr. Hsieh received his B.S. in civil engineering in 1985 from NTU, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from Cornell University, the U.S.A. in 1990 and 1993, respectively. From 1993 to 1995, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University, U.S.A. He joined the Department of Civil Engineering at NTU in 1995 and had since served as the Chief of the Extracurricular Activities Section in the Office of Student Affairs, Chair & Vice-Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering, and Deputy Dean for the Office of International Affairs. 

 

An is currently a Postdoc Fellow at the School of Built Environment, Massey University. She gained her bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying (BQSurv) and Master's degree in Construction Management (MSc) at HUCE. She received her Ph.D. in Construction in 2021.

Her research interests are, but are not limited to, sustainable construction, zero-carbon buildings, innovation in construction, stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and resilience in construction. She is participating in the CanConstructNZ program aiming at creating a smart system that enables mapping future pipeline projects and the sector capacity to advise the stakeholders whether the sector will be capable of delivering future projects. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK (FHEA), and a member of the Vietnam BIM Academic Forum.

Dr. Quan Phung

Quan joined the University of Portsmouth in 2021 as a Module Leader and Lecturer in Construction Project Management. Prior to this, he held positions as a Postdoc Fellow at Heriot-Watt University and a Lecturer at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. He holds a Master's degree from the University of Liege in Belgium and a Ph.D. in Construction from Heriot-Watt University. His research interests include sustainability, green building, affordable housing, innovative technologies such as BIM and UAV, collaborative working methods, and integrated project delivery. He currently serves as the secretary of the CDSD series.

 

Professor Dr. Syahrul obtains his Ph.D. from the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering, University of Manchester, UK. His expertise is in the field of Building Performance and Facilities Management. Prior to being an academia since 2007, Syahrul has 15 years of experience in the building and construction industry through several roles including designing, supervising, and managing projects.

Prof. Syahrul is also the executive editor of the Journal of Surveying, Construction and Property, the regional editorial for the Journal of Facilities Management, UK (Emerald) and a member of the editorial board for several international and local journals.
